Flavor Flav’s Vegas Bash: Hip-Hop Icon Honors US Women’s Hockey Gold, Launches Fund for Female Olympians

Flavor Flav is taking the party to Las Vegas. The hip-hop legend announced a star-studded weekend to honor the US women’s ice hockey team’s gold medal triumph at the Milano Cortina Olympics.

The Hall of Fame rapper revealed plans on X this Thursday. He’ll host a She Got Game event from July 16-19 in partnership with MGM Resorts. This celebration isn’t just about hockey—it’s a full-throated salute to female Olympian and Paralympian achievement across the board.

Flav isn’t just throwing a party. The 66-year-old artist launched a GoFundMe campaign to back US women’s Olympic medalists. “Many of y’all asked how you can support and donate to our female athletes and the celebrations,” he wrote on X. “So I created a Go Fund Me. I’m hopeful this can have an impact beyond the weekend and help those that represent the best of the US.”

Reuters pressed USA Hockey for details. They wanted to know if the full 23-player squad would attend the Vegas bash. No immediate reply came from the organization.

The Public Enemy founding member extended a lavish invitation to the hockey champions. Flav shared a formal email he said went out to the players. It promises a Las Vegas trip for “a real celebration” packed with dinners and shows.

This offer landed right after the women’s team passed on another high-profile invite. USA Hockey declined Donald Trump’s State of the Union address invitation on Tuesday. The organization cited logistics and travel issues in their polite refusal.

Trump’s invitation came late Sunday during a locker-room call. He congratulated the men’s gold medal-winning team on their 2-1 overtime victory over Canada. “We’re going to have to bring the women’s team, you do know that,” Trump told the men’s squad, who were with FBI director Kash Patel. He later joked he’d “probably be impeached” if he didn’t extend the invitation.

The women’s team beat Canada by the same 2-1 overtime score three days earlier. A nod to Trump’s remarks appeared in the message Flav shared with the players.

Flav brings serious sports credentials to this celebration. He served as official hype man for the US bobsleigh and skeleton teams at the Milano Cortina Games. He previously backed the women’s water polo team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. This Vegas event marks his latest move in a long-running campaign to champion women’s sports.
