Rangers Unleash Second-Half Onslaught to Crush Falkirk 6-3, Climb to Second in Premiership

Rangers delivered a breathtaking display of attacking firepower, rallying from a two-goal deficit to demolish Falkirk 6-3 in a Scottish Premiership thriller. The victory catapults Danny Röhl’s side back into second place, just one point adrift of league leaders Hearts.

Falkirk stunned the visitors early, seizing the lead after just six minutes. Calvin Miller whipped a low cross into the box, where Ben Broggio exploited Rangers’ sloppy marking to slot home. The hosts doubled their advantage in the 26th minute, with Finn Yeats rifling a powerful strike past Jack Butland from the edge of the area.

Rangers clawed back a goal in bizarre fashion just before halftime. In the 42nd minute, Tochi Chukwuani prodded in from five yards after Falkirk players stopped, mistakenly believing a cross had gone out of play. The ball was headed onto a post and rebounded to Chukwuani, with VAR checks proving inconclusive, allowing the goal to stand.

The second half saw Rangers unleash an unstoppable onslaught. Youssef Chermiti leveled the score in the 47th minute, finishing simply from Djeidi Gassama’s cross. Just five minutes later, Nicolas Raskin smashed a fine finish into the far corner, celebrating by jumping into the stands and banging his head on a jubilant supporter—though he stayed on to play a key role.

Rangers’ blistering spell continued, with Bojan Miovski bundling in Raskin’s pinpoint cross from close range in the 58th minute to make it 4-2. Falkirk pulled one back in the 70th minute through Calvin Miller’s penalty after James Tavernier fouled Filip Lissah, but Rangers quickly extinguished any comeback hopes.

Chermiti eased anxiety with a thunderous blast from the edge of the area in the 74th minute, and Miovski tapped in the sixth in the 88th minute to seal a frenetic 6-3 win.

Elsewhere in the Premiership, Celtic temporarily jumped into second with a 1-0 victory over St Mirren. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the lone goal after 15 minutes, rifling into the bottom right corner after Benjamin Nygren found Callum McGregor, whose shot was blocked by Alex Gogic and set up by Kieran Tierney. Celtic manager Martin O’Neill praised his team for grinding out a win despite low energy levels, noting, “We’ve stayed in the hunt and in fairness to the players they did dig it out in the end.”

Hearts maintained their top spot with a dramatic 3-1 win over Motherwell. After a goalless first half at Tynecastle, Emmanuel Longelo fired Motherwell ahead, only for Cláudio Braga to equalize with an overhead kick. Stephen Welsh was judged to have fouled Landry Kaboré late on, allowing Lawrence Shankland to convert from the spot, and Kaboré added a third in added time. Hearts manager Derek McInnes lauded his players for “dragging themselves off the canvas,” adding, “We very rarely don’t score, particularly here at Tynecastle.”

In other results, Stephen Robinson broke his winless run since moving from St Mirren to Aberdeen, guiding his side to a 2-0 win over Hibernian with Kevin Nisbet scoring in each half. Dundee United edged Livingston 3-2 in a thriller at Tannadice, with Zac Sapsford’s late penalty securing the points after Will Ferry and Krisztian Keresztes scored for the hosts, and Lewis Smith hit a quickfire double for Livingston. Kilmarnock earned a precious 2-2 draw against Dundee, with goalkeeper Kelle Roos saving a stoppage-time penalty from Joe Westley after a six-minute VAR check.
